Alexandra van Breemen (Alex), a medical student from Leiden University, Netherlands, joined the Kimata Lab through the 2024 ShanghaiTech Summer Lab Program (July 6–August 30). Her research focused on CDK1 phosphorylation in the EGFR-Ras-MAPK pathway using Drosophila models, contributing fresh perspectives to cell cycle regulation studies.
With dual expertise in medicine and biomedical sciences, Alex demonstrated strong skills in molecular biology and imaging. She actively engaged in lab discussions, bridging European and Asian research approaches while embracing Mandarin learning and cultural exchange.
“ShanghaiTech’s collaborative environment deepened my passion for translational research,” Alex shared. We thank her for her dedication and wish her success in future global scientific endeavors!
